It's Good!

Louisville, KY - Last year Kentucky won their annual Battle for the Governer's Cup with Louisville by a score of 45-42. This year was the complete opposite, a defensive struggle at its finest, and a 29 yard field goal by Lones Seiber with no time left was the only difference as Kentucky won 16-13.

No touchdowns were scored until the third quarter, when QB Curtis Pulley connected with freshman WR Anthony Evans for a nine yard score. It was true freshman Evans first, of hopefully many, career touchdown. Kentucky took the 13-6 lead at this point, and with 2:32 left in the game, Louisville's QB Hunter Cantwell tied it up through the air. Kentucky would get the ball back and organize a beautiful drive downfield, making the Cardinals spend their timeouts before player of the game Lones Seiber belted home the game winner.

Kentucky's HB Alfonso Smith had a day he would like to forget. His first carry was a fumble, and his second carry yielded a foot sprain, and he would sit the rest of the game.

Wildcats QB Curtis Pulley finished 13/26 for 181yds, TD, 2INT, and he looked good and not so good at times. His ability to improvise and use his legs is extremely useful, yet he still was sacked four times.

MLB Braxton Kelley led the defense with 8 tackles, and Kentucky held Louisville's rushing attack to just 52 yards on 25 carries.

Kentucky travels next week to take on the Temple Owls(1-0).
