Not Quite
Sadly enough it could not be done. In Miami's last game of the season and the last college football game for the senior the Canes were not able to upset the Louisville Cardinals in the Gator Bowl, with a 37-21 loss.
Coach Tares was saddened about the loss "I feel like I let those seniors down, guys like Romeo Davis, Glenn Sharpe, Teraz McCray, and of course Lance Leggett. I mean there last memory of college football is them losing."
Two seniors including linebacker, Romeo Davis and wide receiver, Lance Leggett were a huge factor for the Canes in this one. Romeo Davis finished with 8 tackles in which two for losses, Davis was a momentum shifter with his big hits he laid on the table. Leggett had his third straight hundred yard game and finished his career off with Miami with an 112 yard game and a touchdown which gave him 62 receptions, 934 yards and 8 touchdowns on the year.
Through the game Louisville played stellar defense and had Miami switching quarterbacks between, Kyle Wright and freshman Robert Marve. Most of the game was maintained by Marve who threw for 190 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions.
Marve also had a key play before halftime as it seemed like Louisville was about to take the game away.
With no time left on the clock Marve rolled out the right side and connected with Lance Leggett on a 78 yard pass which shortened the Louisville lead to 24-14 which would be the closest the Canes came.
The second half was owned by the Cardinals, even though Miami forced countless punts and turnovers the UL defense stopped anything the Canes ran or threw at em.
"They played great defense I mean Javarris only had a weak 24 yards we couldnt run or pass on them." Coach Tares said.
Miami had one last chance after another Marve touchdown and with the score at 34-21 kicker Bosher made a great onside kick which was recovered by Miami. The kick was short lived as on the next play an interception was thrown and according to Kirk Herbstreit "and thats the end of it folks."
Coach Tares wanted to thank his seniors at the end of the game "I just want to thank all the senios effort throughout the whole year, it was a pleasure coaching you, and I hope you go on to bigger and better things.
