NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

NSU dominated the second and third quarters and emerged with its first National Championship with a 33-16 win over Texas Tech at the Orange Bowl.

NSU scored 10 unanswered points in the second and added a 14-3 edge in the third to pull away from the Raiders.

The Prairie Dogs won the game with a balanced effort on offense. NSU generated 425 yards with 220 coming on the ground. JP Morgan scored once and finished with 118 yards on 17 carries. Scott added 41 yards on nine totes and Redman tacked on five rushes for 25 yards.

Shivers attempted just 10 passes all night, but he locked in on six completions that netted two touchdowns.

Jobes earned Player of the Game with his 120 yards on five catches and a score. Hogan netted 71 yards on two catches, one covering 63 yards in a third quarter touchdown.

Kelly was perfect kicking on the night and Texas Tech's sole touchdown came after Kelly's fourth and final field goal, a 93-yard kick-off return.

NSU finished the season 12-0 and has gone 36-1 in the past three seasons.
