Fine Tune Up For WarHawks

Taking the field for the first time as the Warhawks since the NCAA's ruling on Native American nicknames, UL-Monroe dispatched the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions easily to a score of 73-24. First time starter Kinsmon Lancaster performed excellently for first year head coach, Jamie Banner. He went out and completed 11 of 16 passes for 225 yards and 5 TDs along with 8 carries for 49 yards and 1 TD. Harry Bradley showed the reason many preseason publications consider him an impact player for ULM, as he went out and collected 14 tackles, 2 TLFs, a sack and 2 forced fumbles. The game was over once the 2nd quarter began when Lancaster connected for 3 TD passes early in the quarter. The starters were out at the beginning of the 4th quarter. Misfortune did befall the ULM Warhawks as they will be losing starting senior SS Austin Willis for 5 weeks due to a forearm fracture. Replacing Willis in the lineup will be NB Eddie Webb. Continue to check with us throughout the week for practice reports as the Warhawks prepare for their upcoming contest with the Kansas Jayhawks in Lawrence, Kansas next week.

See Page C2 for interview with rookie coach, Jamie Banner and starting QB, Kinsmon Lancaster.

For coaches interview make sure to mention 6 fumbles and practicing hard to hold onto the ball.
