USC sends message to the rest of the country

Los Angeles,CA (AP)
Some may say USC is overrated, others may say they have not prove anything yet, all they have is talent nothing more. Well it looks like Pete Carroll and his troops have been awoken like a sleeping giant.

USC came into this game, with many critics. Many have said that they played a horrible team (Idaho Vandals) to start the season, then they played a overrated team like the Cornhuskers, who has not beaten a top 10 team in the Bill Callahan era. So what must USC do to prove that they're the legit #1 team without question. How about scoring over 100 points in their PAC-10 season opener. Indeed thats exactly what they did.

We all had no doubts that USC was going to beat WSU, but since the Trojans tend to play to their competition , we didn't know which team was going to show up. Good news is that this bunch of Trojan have not taste the success that the Trojans before them had tasted. These young guys are hungry to show the rest of college football they're just as good as the Trojans before them. They are stepping up to the plate and it's time for the rest of the Country to take notice.

The Trojans just dominated the Cougars in every aspect of the game, holding them to 263 yds of total offense. Cougars only managed 12 1st downs compare to Trojans 32 1st down. Trojans also output 3 times the offensive yds than the Cougars with 637 yds. Trojans only had 5 3rd down conversion attempts and converted 3 times. But the eye popping number is the fact that they were in the redzone 8 times and scored 8 TDs. All of Cougars points were scored during garbage time.

John David Booty continues to build on his Heisman momentum with 258 yds and 4TD. After the game he stated, "hey were just taking it week by week and were not looking ahead of anything. We are focus, coach Carroll is really good at keeping the team grounded and as a senior leader of the team I have to be an example and show poise."

USC's running game is scary as everyone contributed and no one is left unhappy. The running game created 7 TDs and 324 yds highlighted by Stafon Johnson's 102 yds on 8 carries. Allen Bradford had 71 yds on 12 carries and 1 TD, and Joe McKnight had 3 combined TDs with 50 yds on the ground and 78 yds in the air, with only 7 touches. SEE ALL STATS

Rey Maualuga led a highly charged defense with 12 Tkls and also 1 int ret for TD. "We wanted to go out their and show that we are the best defense in the country and play with a reckless abandon. Everyone should fear us." USC defense created 4 turnovers and scored 3TDs, more than some offenses scored this week. We face Washington next week and we'll see if USC will keep up the high intensity play from this week. GOOOO TROJANS!!!!!!
