Wyoming 58, Florida Atlantic 51

It was a dark and rainy night in Ft. Lauderdale as the Cowboys marched on to the field, looking for there 5th straight win of the season. But the Owls, lead by senior QB Rusty Smith, were ready for a wild game.

The first quarter was uneventful, though high scoring, as both teams scored two touchdowns to make the score 14-14.

In the second quarter it appeared as if Wyoming was going to pull away and make it a blowout, scoring 21 points unanswered and FAU star player Rusty Smith injured his non-throwing shoulder and would miss the rest of the game. But on a punt as time expired in the first half, Wyoming return man Donate Morgan tried to do a little to much, fumbling the ball. The ball was then picked up by a FAU defender and he took it to the house. The score was 35-21 Wyoming, but FAU had all the momentum in the world.

On the first drive of the third quarter, Wyoming looked as if they killed the momentum, finishing off the drive with a short yardage touchdown run to once again take the lead by 21 points. FAU was not ready to give up, however, as halfback David Muniz scored twice on the ground, making the score 42-35 heading into the final quarter.

FAU would strike first in the fourth quarter, kicking a 41-yard field goal to make the score 42-38. On the ensuing Wyoming possession, Carta-Samuels threw his first pick of the game, giving FAU the ball with a chance to take the lead.

The Owls took advantage of the opportunity, scoring on a 19-yard strike from their backup quarterback. Their kicker missed the extra point, however, and now had a two point lead as opposed to a three point lead.

Wyoming would not give up, scoring on a 56-yard post route from Carta-Samuels to Travis Burkhalter. They punched it in on the 2-point conversion attempt, making the score 50-44.

Florida Atlantic was not willing to be outdone by the fabulous freshman. They drove down the field, running in in for the touchdown with only 0:46 left on the clock.

For the third time in four games, Wyoming would have to stage a comeback attempt. Carta-Samuels did not have to step on the field, as Greg Bolling took the kickoff 90 yards for the game winning touchdown.

FAU's hail mary attempt was incomplete and Wyoming could celebrate once again as they won the wild 58-51 game.
