#1 Alabama is A+ across the board. #23 Texas has a B- offense, a B+ defense, and is B+ overall. This is going to be a difficult opening game on the road. Gone is All American HB Michael Gibbs. The team should be able to compensate for his loss with the stable of running backs that we have. Weather: Clear with wind up to 12 mph.

QB Marcus "The Future" Sullivan takes it in from 26 yards out to get us on the scoreboard, 7-0 Tide. QB Sullivan then goes in from 30 yards, 14-0. An INT by MLB Frank Mark is returned 17 yards for the score, 21-0. HB Elton Razzano takes it in from 7 yards out and it's 28-0 Tide at the end of one.

UT QB Hixon throws a 79 yard TD pass to Byers to make it 28-7. QB Sullivan answers that TD with a 70 yard TD strike to WR Mike Bishop, 35-7. A little later QB Sullivan hooks up with WR Bishop on a 61 yard TD pass, 42-7. QB Sullivan then has a run of 20 and of 4 for two more TDs, 56-7 at the half and the Longhorns have been routed.

In the second half the backups are put in. UT's Byers returns a punt 85 yards for a TD, 56-14. A 50 yard FG by UT K Malloy makes it 56-17. Then, a run of 24 yards by UT HB Shaw makes it 56-24.

A 6 yard TD run by UT HB Shaw makes it 56-31 with 4:41 left. A 17 yard TD pass from UT QB Hixon to Cole makes it 56-38 with 2:52 left to play. UT QB Hixon finds Byers again on a 26 yard TD pass. The two point conversion is good as UT QB Hixon finds HB Shaw. 56-46 with 1:03 to play. The backups finally do something right and run the clock out.

This was a definite blowout until we put the backups in at the beginning of the 3rd quarter. The Longhorn offense caught fire scoring 39 points in the last half. Fortunately our offense and defense scored enough in the first half. Our backups will definitely have to perform better in the future.
