#1 Alabama (2-0) has an A- offense, an A defense, and is A overall. We are #1 in pts/gm, #16 in total offense, and #1 in total defense. Cal (1-1) has a B+ offense, an A defense, and is A- overall. They are #19 in pts/gm, #15 in total offense, and #79 in total defense. Cal was ranked #9 in the Preseason Coaches' Poll. They dropped out of the Top 25 when they lost. QB Chris Andrews throws a 34 yard TD pass to HB Tyler Doby, 14-0. HB Will Moore runs it in from 11 yards, 21-0.

K Brett White knocks in a 47 yard FG, 24-0. CAL QB Berry throws a 3 yard TD pass to Zappuhar with 2:19 left in the game. They go for two and QB Berry throws to Lynch for the conversion, 24-8. CAL gets the ball back late in the game and the CAL QB tries to throw a seam route to his TE, but SS Travis Dean picks the pass, knocks down the WR with his off hand, and returns the ball to the CAL 21 with :52 left in the game. HB Doby scores on a 21 yard TD run just :04 later to seal it, 31-8.

The wind caused havoc in this one. Our defense held the Golden Bears in check enough so that our offense could outscore them.
