Cal 54, ASU 52, 3OT: A 26-game winning streak flat lines when Cal's Courtney Rivero goes all Peyton Manning on the Sun Devils (430 passing yards) and ASU's Dennis Washington tries to bounce an inside run outside on a two-point try in the third OT and gets stopped short by the Bears' crappy defense. Five ASU turnovers, including four INTs by Blake Taylor, make what should have been a comfortable win into an upset.
No. 12 Alabama 23, ASU 13: Another five-turnover game ends the national title hopes. Bama QB carves up the defense on 20-of-33 passing for 287 yards.
ASU loses to Nibble's former team, Colorado, 51-48 in OT in the Orange Bowl to finish 10-3. ASU ends up No. 9 and Colorado rises to No. 2 behind national champ Virginia Tech.
