OFFENSIVE MVP
QB Mark Bray (Jr.) - In what is likely his final season at Arizona State, Bray cemented himself as perhaps the greatest college football player of all time. The junior set new school records for passing yards, passing TD's, and rushing TD's in a career; and set a new NCAA record for best passer rating in a season with an otherworldly 201.0 QB Rating. He was awarded the Heisman Trophy for the second year in a row - joining Archie Griffin as the only two time Heisman winners - and finished it up by winning the first National Championship in Arizona State history.
CO-DEFENSIVE MVP
DT Chad Henry (Sr.) - The former transfer was a surprise star this year, collecting 21 TFL's, 11 sacks, 2 FF and 2 FR en route to being named 1st Team All-American and winning the Lombardi Award as the country's top defensive linemen.
CO-DEFENSIVE MVP
CB Jason Luke (Sr.) - Luke was to the secondary what Henry was to the defensive line - a guy with no hype and no track record who became an absolute star. The senior intercepted 5 passes, returning 2 for TD's, and was named a 1st Team All-American.
NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR
RT David Smith (So.) - A transfer, Smith took hold of the RT job from Day One and never let go. He and fellow 1st Team All-American Joe Burrell formed a devastating combo on the right side of the line.

GLENDALE -- Playing just 20 miles from campus, the stage was set for two time Heisman winner Mark Bray to make his final bit of Arizona State history. He did not disappoint, throwing for 402 yards and 4 TD's while adding another score on the ground.
Things started out poorly for the Sun Devils, though, as a couple early turnovers gave the Bulldogs an early 13-0 lead and sent the largely pro-Arizona State crowd into a hushed panic. It would be all Arizona State from there, with Bray lighting up the scoreboard with his arm and the defense holding the Bulldogs scoreless in the 2nd half.
This is Arizona State's first national championship in program history.

Bray throws for 400 yards, #1 Arizona State beats #9 Stanford 52-28 in Pac-12 Championship

GLENDALE -- Mark Bray racked up 469 total yards and 4 scores, Steve Williams ran for 138 yards, and the Arizona State offense finished its scorched earth type march through the Pac-12. There were road bumps today, though, as a pair of INT's in the 3rd quarter gave Stanford ample opportunity to take control of this game. They were unable to do so thanks to a withering pass rush led by Chad Henry, who had 6 TFL's and 3 sacks on the day. Those types of big plays repeatedly killed important Stanford drives and allowed the Sun Devils to close it out in the 4th.
With the victory, Arizona State claims their second consecutive Pac-12 title. Last year, the prize was a trip to the Rose Bowl.....this time, it's a trip to the National Championship game where they will face #2 Georgia.

TUCSON -- Mark Bray quickly erased any doubts about his health, throwing for 4 scores and running for 3 more as the top ranked Sun Devils completed their perfect regular season with a resounding win over rival Arizona. HB Mike Page had another great running day, racking up 176 yards as Steve Williams sat out most of the game for precautionary reasons.
Arizona State will face #9 Stanford in the Pac-12 Championship game.

Wesley steps in for injured Bray, clinches Pac-12 South with 45-26 win at Boise State

BOISE -- If ever this Sun Devils team was vulnerable, it was late in the 1st quarter this evening, with their Heisman Trophy winning QB hobbling off the field with an apparent ankle injury. Tied at 10 a piece, it looked like their national championship hopes might have left with him.
Backup QB Matt Wesley was up to the task, however, throwing for 3 TD's and running for one more while only committing one turnover. While he wasn't quite Mark Bray, the sophomore was good enough to carry the Sun Devils to 28 second half points en route to clinching the Pac-12 South for the 3rd time in 4 years.
