FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS

On a whole, Baylor QB Shawn Bell is having an outstanding season. With 1 game left in his senior year, Bell has a legit shot at a 4000 yd / 35 td year and his name will be litered in Baylor's record books. But looking closer, you can see that he struggles at times, normally only lasting a few drives each game, but at times for the entire game, which always results in Baylor losses. Today was a prime example of him struggling for awhile only to turn it around quickly and have a very productive game.
In the first half, Bell, and therefore the Bears, really struggled. He threw 2 picks & lost a fumble. He was barely over 33% completion and had a tad over 100 yards. The result was a 14-10 Oklahoma St lead, with Baylor not being that close. The 2nd hald, he was reborn. Throwing nearly 300 yds in the half with 2 TD passes, he led Baylor to a 20 pt 2nd half & a 30-21 win over the Cowboys, their 2nd in conference play. He was so hot that at 1 point he completed on 10 straight passes, most of which going to Zeigler & Shelton, his 2 favorite targets.
"When Shawn gets in the zone like that, our offense is almost unstoppable" said Dominique Zeigler, the main receipient of Bell's gaudy stats & the favorite for the Biletnokoff Award. Coach Juggs added, "It's a shame the NCAA voters didn't nominate him for the Davey O'Brien. I'd put his numbers up against anyone in the nation. We're not going to know how good he was until we're missing him next year after he graduates."
