BAYLOR LOSES TOUGH OPENER
Don't let the scoreboard fool you, Baylor was badly outplayed in the season opener. They had no answer for TCU's option run game & gave up many big plays. Add in 4 turnovers and 5 sacks and it's almost shocking when you look at the box score.
But with all that being said, the Bears hung around and even took a 17-14 lead early in the 4th. But less than a minute later, TCU quickly answered with a huge 87 yd pass from Jeff Ballard to Quentily Harmon & retook the lead 21-17. Fittingly enough, Baylor's last 2 possessions ended with a fumble after a sack & QB Shawn Bell throwing his 2nd int (3rd turnover in all). Both a direct cause & effect of the Bears' weakest area, their O-line.
Offensive captain & star, Sr WR Dominique Zeigler had a huge day in the loss and it seems like he & Bell have a great feel of each other. Likely, the 2 will have to come up huge for Baylor to win games this season.
Coach Juggs after his first game only said that the loss was "very disappointing" and that he "expected us to struggle this year, but goddamn it, we can't turn the ball over like that."
