Orangemen Finished, Eagles Eye Hokies

Chestnut Hill, MA - The Orange from Syracuse may have to change their name to the black and blue after their match up with the undefeated Boston College Eagles. Many analysis were picking the 4-2 Orange to upset the Eagles, as many thought the Eagles were in a trap game as they will be travelling to Blacksburg for their next game against rival Virginia Tech. "We knew what everybody was saying, coach did a great job of keeping us focused. One game at a time. We weren't playing Virginia Tech today, our focus was on Syracuse," Eagles running back Andre Williams said.

Andre Williams continues to build a case why he should be the Heisman trophy winner. For Williams it was just another day at the office, but 25 carries, 172 yards and 2 touchdowns later, he showed why he is the best back in the game. "The difference between Andre and the rest is that Andre doesn't quit. You hit him, you have 4 guys trying to tackle him, but he seems to gain another 3 or 4 yards. He keeps him legs pumping," Eagles coach Frank Spaziani said after the game.

Andre Williams wasn't the only Eagle to have a great day offensively, quarterback Chase Rettig without question played his best game of the season. Rettig completed a season high 70% of his passes for 235 yards and 3 touchdowns. "We came into the game wanting to throw the ball. Everybody and their mother knows we like to run the ball, but we wanted and needed to get him going early on, and it kept Syracuse's defense off balance which is what you always want to do," coach Spaz said.

The stat line would have you believe that the game was a lot closer than it really was. Throughout the game Syracuse could not get any momentum as the Eagles defense was applying pressure and stuffing the run, and not letting the quick receivers get too open. "Defensively it was without a doubt our most solid game we've played in a couple of weeks, although there were somethings we need to address, but overall I'm pleased," Frank Spaziani told reporters.

As mentioned before, the Eagles now have to travel on 95 south to Blacksburg, VA to take on the 15th ranked Hokies. It will be without a doubt the Eagles toughest game this season. Virginia Tech boasts the nation's 4th best defense, 3rd against the run. "They're a great team, but they have some flaws, they've been beaten this season and hopefully with a good week of practice we'll be able to still be undefeated," Chase Rettig said.

The game is on primetime at 7 p.m.
