All Quiet in Week 13

Clean Old-Fashioned Beatdown
To think that the Georgia Bulldogs went into yesterday's game against Georgia Tech expecting to get back into the title hunt can now be called laughable. At every turn the Bulldogs made another grievous mistake. At every junction the Yellowjackets out executed their rivals from Athens. As a result, Georgia went home 43-7 losers, with only the SEC title and accompanying BCS berth to play for.
Unbeaten Georgia Tech vaulted past Alabama, also unbeaten, in the polls this week. Therefore they were #1 when they hosted the Bulldogs.
The stat that best tells the story of this game is turnovers. Georgia had five of them, and Tech had none.
Georgia Tech had the ball first, and the Bulldogs were satisfied to holding the Yellowjackets to a field goal. The Bulldogs couldn't respond with any significant offense in the early going, as Drew Butler had to punt.
Eventually the Yellowjackets got things going and made two big plays near the end of the first quarter that put the Bulldogs on their heels and set the mood for the rest of the game. Jonathan Dwyer took a handoff up the middle and simply motored through the middle of the Georgia defense for a 38-yard score.
Joe Cox threw an interception on the following drive, and the Jackets responded by scoring on a 58-yard touchdown pass from Josh Nesbitt to Cory Earls. Georgia Tech was up 17-0 and Georgia was stunned.
The Bulldogs responded with the only drive of the game where they looked like themselves, which resulted in a six-yard touchdown pass from Cox to Mike Moore.
The Yellowjackets squelched any thought of a comeback by easily scoring on the next drive just over a minute later. To make matters worse, Cox threw an interception thereafter that was returned 42 yards for an interception.
Cox then did the same thing immediately after the half, making a bad read and giving another Tech player an interception return for a touchdown and a 38-7 lead. The game was over.
Embarrassing, pathetic, and humliating are all adequate words, as long as they're all combined. Alone, none of them do this one justice.
