Wolverines open title defense with embarrassing loss
The #2 Wolverines were thoroughly outclassed on their own field, turning the ball over eight times and failing to score until the fourth quarter in a 45-21 loss to #17 Virginia Tech.
Were it not for the turnovers, the Wolverines likely would have been in position for a huge win. They outgained the Hokies 503-314 on offense, produced 26 first downs to Virginia Tech's 12, and had nearly a 2-1 edge in time of possession. But QB James Tepper had the worst game of his young career, throwing four interceptions and fumbling the ball twice, and his teammates didn't give him much help.
