OSU Inks First Recruit of the Season
August 28, 2010

Manny Beck, the sought after offensive lineman from Bowling Green, Ohio, signed with the Buckeyes today. The 273 lb high school senior was reported to have said to coach Griffin "What took you so long?" when he became the first recruit to receive an offer from OSU this year. The two will likely laugh about that for the next four years, as Beck will be coming to Columbus in the fall.
Beck is the ninth ranked offensive tackle in this year's class and is rated number 134 overall. While he has all the tools to play outside, coach may decide to capitalize on his speed in the running game by putting him at a guard spot and pulling him out to block in space. "It's all the same to me," Beck said, "I just wanna go hit somebody."
In the Big Ten, he'll get plenty of chances to do just that.
Buckeyes Assert Dominance, Shutout Navy - 45-0
Ohio State simply rolled over the Midshipmen of Navy on Saturday, stuffing the pesky option running game and giving up less than 200 yards of total offense for the game while rushing for over 300 yards on the day themselves.
Navy played a tough game, and gave it all they had from start to finish, but there was just no competing with the Buckeyes on this day. Terrelle Pryor ran for two scores, threw for two more, and the defense, led by Cameron Heyward's two forced fumbles, seven tackles, four tackles for loss, and a sack thrown in for good measure, was just too much for Navy to overcome. Valiant as they were, the outcome was never in doubt. Buckeyes in a blowout.
Next week, the Bobcats of Ohio University attempt to pull the upset in the 'Shoe.
