Pitt Closes Out with a Loss to WVU
Pitt put up a decent fight against #4 West Virginia, but failed as they ended their regular season at 6-6 (4-3). Pitt was invited to the New Mexico Bowl against the New Mexico Lobos. Here is what Coach Wannstedt had to say about the Pitt season:
Reporter: How do you feel about your team's season?
Coach: I feel we progressed really well and made some large strides along the way.
Reporter: What accomplishments did your team have this season?
Coach: Well we had a true freshman quarterback lead us to a non-losing record and we had a huge upset against Louisville, which was probably the highlight of this season.
Reporter: How do you think your team will fare next year?
Coach: We are not ready to concentrate on next year. We have a bowl game coming up and we need all of our focus on that.
Reporter: I know this is another question about next year but I'm hoping you can answer this for me. Who will be starting at running back next season?
Coach: Well, LaRod S-Howlings had a decent season and we have future in Redshirted Freshman LeSean McCoy. Right now we are unsure, but both will get their shots.
Reporter: Will you win the bowl game in 3 weeks?
Coach: You bet we will!
