Memphis proves they are (still) a high school team.

Tennessee fought and clawed their way to another victory. It was a close tight battle in the first half, but Tennessee's offense came alive in the third quarter.

Riding the back of Jason Smith once again, gave ample teaching time for the young QB Mitchell. He had a decent game throwing for over 200 yards, but needed to work more on his completion percentage.

"I think it is important to get the young quarterback settled down before we head into SEC play. The first two games he's played, he's been downright nasty with putting the ball on the money, hopefully it will be more often we see Mitchell hitting the WR's in stride for big gains. Jason Smith is a great asset to the team. The rock of our offense is him, opposing defenses have to key on the guy, and that's when Mitchell has been able to shine. I am very happy with our defensive effort today, only giving up 24 points is an improvement from last weeks debacle. We saw a better defense today and the team hung 49 on them. I think by far the best play I've seen this year was when freshman Freddie Barron returned a punt for a touchdown and avoided the entire Memphis special teams unit. That was special." Said an over joyed Coach Batten.

Tennessee is currently enjoying a 2 game win streak. If they beat FAU, it will be the longest win streak since 2021.
