Not good enough!
Another rivalry game, another heated battle. Tennessee and Florida squared off on the usual national CBS broadcast to set the tone of the SEC East race. What the fans saw was something not expected.
Florida's QB Victor Horner was knocked out of the game on the first play of the game. The backup would be another senior (RS) Tariq Bozeman, both beat Chris Davis out of the starting QB position and Davis transferred from Florida to Tennessee.
Tennessee's Chris Davis set the tone of the game when he started the Tennessee drive and he punched Florida's secondary in the mouth on a 12 yard touchdown strike to Fred Barron. Florida's Tariq Bozeman answered the punch with a 25 yard touchdown pass of his own.
Then Chris Davis hit Florida back in the mouth again with a 28 yard touchdown pass to Shannon Lowe which was caught over two UF defenders. Tennessee took the lead 14-7 and then UF answered with a 20 yard field goal to make it a 14-10 game, but that was all UF could do and the closest they would get to the lead.
Chris Davis was so pissed off at his former team for not giving him a shot he hit touchdown strike after touchdown strike. The biggest and best play of the game was at the end of the 2nd quarter and going into halftime. Coach Batten called a hail mary play to try to shut the door on any UF comeback and Davis was feeling awesome and he flung it in the air and somehow it was caught by Jamar McNeal for a touchdown.

Tennessee never looked back after that touchdown and Chris Davis broke Peyton Manning's record for touchdown passes in the game. Davis garnered NCAA, SEC, and game player of the week honors with his 20/34, 512 yard, 6 touchdown performance.
"I think Chris Davis is pleased to be starter of the Tennessee Vols, and will forever enjoy the 61-16 blowout over his former school. The whole team wanted him to get his revenge over Florida for the way they did him. Also, I am pleased with the effort my receivers gave. Kevin Hughes had a great play on a quick slant thrown by Davis and he broke four UF defenders and ran 86 yards but ran out of gas at the six yard line. All in all, it is great to be a Tennessee Vol!" said Coach Batten.
