Horns beat the Bears

Wall Street may be in bad shape, but the bulls are raging throughout the state of Texas.

On Saturday, Texas went on the road to play their 3rd of 5 teams that they will play from the state of Texas. It was slated as the next addition of an annual rivalry, but in recent years, the rivalry has basically been a W for the Longhorns each season. This year would be no different for The Burnt Orange and White.

Texas kicked off the scoring for the day when Colt McCoy connected with Mike Williams for 22 yards on a TD pass. The Horns would add another TD on a Baylor turnover 58 seconds later to make the game 14-0. A second Bear turnover wouled lead to a UT field goal to extend the lead to 17-0. Texas would finish the quarter with yet another field goal to lead 20-0.

The second quarter would Texas slow down the pace a bit with a 20-0 lead. A td run by tailback Brendan Sullivan would push the score to 27-0 before Baylor added a fg as time expired after a 70 yard drive from their own 11 yard line. At the half, Texas led 27-3.

The second half would be an all-out assault. Colt McCoy continued to play until the end of the 3rd quarter, adding two more TD's to make the score 41-3. Baylor was successful throwing the ball through the UT pass rush, but not successful enough to do damage once they got close to the end zone.

The 4th quarter would bring in 2nd string QB Nate Rogers. Rogers would be asked to mix in the option attack that he is known for running. Three more Texas TD's would ensue, and Baylor was crushed by The Horns 62-3.
