*Simulated Game: Locker rescues Huskies late

The legend of Jake Locker continues to grow as the young quarterback imposes his will on opposing defenses on a week-in, week-out basis.

Saturday's contest against the Oregon Ducks might go down as one of his most impressive games. The young signal caller threw for 366 yards and ran for an additional 56. Oh, by the way: He also tossed a 91-yard touchdown reception to break a 24-24 tie with just 35 seconds remaining in the game.

Oh, the humanity of simulating a game that turns out to be a classic.

The Huskies led 10-6 at halftime, a short field goal and a 6-yard Jake Locker touchdown run trumping Oregon's two field goals at the break.

oregon pulled to within 10-9 early in the third quarter before J.R. Hasty broke off a 77-yard touchdown run two plays later, as the Huskies took a 17-9 advantage. However the Ducks came right back when the Ducks put together a controlled drive and Jonathan Stewart scored on the first play of the fourth quarter. The Ducks converted a two-point attempt to tie the game at 17 apiece.

Locker put the Huskies out in front again four minutes later with an 18-yard touchdown pass to Quintin Daniels, his trusty senior target. Oregon evened the score with a 68-yard touchdown bomb from Nathan Costa to Jaison Williams.

Each team punted before Oregon pinned the Huskies deep in their own territory with a great punt by N. Thompson, who placed three punts inside the 20-yard line on the day.

With most at Autzen stadium expecting the Huskies to sit on the ball and go to overtime, Locker dropped back and found sophomore Anthony Broyles deep on the right hash. Broyles split two defenders and sprinted for the 91-yard touchdown that won the game.

"What really hurt us today were the penalties," remarked Oregon Coach Mike Bellotti after the game. "Twelve penalties for 119 yards, it's almost obscene. We need to tighten up our game."
