2009 Week 9

TALLAHASSEE, FL - Maryland upended a top 10 team for the 2nd week in a row during a weekend which saw #2 Texas, #4 Michigan and #6 UCLA lose. #10 Florida State was no different. The Maryland running game was again dominant as Da'Rel Scott carried the load, running 26 times for 171 yards and a score. Josh Portis improved under center, completing 10 of 16 passes for 145 yards and two scores. Portis also threw 2 picks, one of which put Florida State on the MD 2 and led to FSU's only TD of the game. Other than that TD which wasn't their fault, Maryland's defense overwhelmed the Seminole attack. The loss drops Florida State into a first place tie with Wake Forest in the ACC Atlantic Division at 5-1, while Maryland pulls to within a half game at 4-1.

Maryland travels to Duke next week.
