Penn State holds off Michigan 35-30

The rollercoaster season for the Wolverines countinues. Michigan gave Penn State a run for it's money in the 4th quarter after being down 35-16. Michigan's offense found some life scoring two straight touchdowns and holding the PSU offense to consecutive 3 and outs to close the gap to 35-30. After forcing another 3 and out as PSU went into conservative mode, Michigan had a chance to take the lead. Facing a third and 5 around midfield with a litte over 2 minutes left, Threet overthrew a wide open McGuffie in the flat. McGuffie would have easily ran for about 20-25 yards. Instead, the Wolverines had a 4th and 5. Still very managable, but the Happy Valley crowd forced Michigan's 5th false start of the day. The Wolverines were unable to convert and PSU took over on downs. Once again the Michigan defense stepped up to the challenge and forced another punt. With no timeouts Michigan marched across midfield but time was no on their side. With about 8 seconds left Threet forced one into coverage and it got picked off. Earlier in the game, it was the Penn State running game that build the early lead on Michigan. Speedy RB Royster gutted Michigan's defense on the opening drive for a 57 yard TD. Later in the second quarter, Royster took an option handoff and rumbled for another TD. McGuffie led Michigan's offense once again catching a career high 11 passes for 123 yards. He also ran for 55. Michigan returns home to face the MSU Spartans.
