The Penn State Nittany Lions came out swinging against the neighbors the Maryland Terps. Penn State got out to a 14-0 lead after Maryland fumbled a kickoff after a Penn State touchdown drive. Maryland would cut the lead to 7 on a long pass from C. Turner to T. Smith. After the first quarter it was 14-7 Lions

PSU added a field goal by true freshman kicker A. Fera to extend the lead to 10, but Maryland had an answer with a long 71 yard run by D. Scott. Penn State would add 2 more touchdowns before half-time. The first on a 10 yard strike from D. Clark to G. Zug and a 2nd touchdown from 20 yards out on a E. Royster touchdown run. At the have PSU led 31-14.

Maryland scored there last points of the game on their first possession of the third quarter of a 49 yard field goal by N.Ferrara. Penn State would answer back with a field goal of its own from 46 yards out to make the deficit 17 again going into the fourth quarter.

Penn State ran a ball control offense in the fourth quarter and added another field goal by A. Fera. This one from just 22 yards out. Final Score PSU 37 Maryland 17/

On the recruiting front, Penn State grabbed another Pennsylvania prospect when FS Kris Anderson made his pledge to be a Lion. The 6'1" 217 lb safety led his Gateway squad to the AAAA state finals. He runs a blistering 4.32 forty yard dash. I can't wait to see this prospect on the field.
