Lions Beat Up Hokies

Penn State continued there winning ways Saturday as they topped the Virginia Tech Hokies 34-7. The Lions didn't start out so good as the Hokies drove down the field on their second possession. Taylor would find Boykin to take a 7-0 lead into the second quarter.

Penn State would answer on the following possession with a touchdown of their own on a 4 yard run from Evan Royster. It looked as though the Hokies would score again, driving all the way into the red zone. But Penn State had other plans. LOLB Navarow Bowman came off the edge on a blitz and hit Taylor just as he released the ball. The football fluttered in the air and RE Jerome Hayes catches it and takes it back 88 Yards for a TD and a 14-7 lead. Penn State would add a FG from Anthony Fera as the half expired to make it 17-7.

The Nittany Lions controlled the entire 2nd half as Evan Royster scored 2 more touchdowns. One on a 4 yard run and another on a 6 yard pass from Daryl Clark. At the end of the 3rd quarter Penn State led 31-7.

Virginia Tech could not muster any scoring efforts in the 4th quarter. Penn State did however connect on another field goal from Anthony Fera, this one from 47 yards out. Final score Penn State 34, Virginia Tech 7.

Penn State did not pick up any commitments on the recruiting front. They did make progress with several recruits and have scheduled visits for week 7 against rival Minnesota.
