Ugly Early
- And late, like most defensive struggles. Asa Rhine's "heart attack offense" is a feast and famine diet, a rollercoaster ride of football, and it all hinges in the spongy, gray matter of Buck Roberts. Nah, we're not talking about his brain, we're talking about his balls. How long will he stand in the pocket before he throws a wild pass? Or gets crushed? Roberts took 5 sacks today, one of them temporarily knocking him out of the game. But he made the plays when it counted, like on 3rd and 17 when he found freshman Brinkley for 32. And he called his own number on 3rd and goal with a quarterback draw that finished the scoring.
Defensively, Kidd, Muhammed and Henderson all recorded interceptions, with Kidd's being the most important. The other two were in garbage time. With the victory, Richmond has all but sewn up the Mountain West for the third straight year.
