A week after the impressive win over UNLV in which they could do no wrong, the Spiders were pushed to the wall by TCU and only the late game heroics of Buck Roberts and receivers Jim Long, Random Jones and Tyree Rome brought home a victory. TCU came to play today, and the scrappy defensive line neutralized the Richmond heavyweights all night. Both defenses in fact played strong ballgames.

Richmond was hamstrung with pregame announcements of suspensions to defensive players Willie Kidd and Eddie Scott as well as fullback Kellen Johnson. The players received a total of 8 games worth of suspensions with the severest going to Johnson. Critics say that Scott and Kidd got off lightly due to their star status.
