Miami (OH) Puts Damper On Syracuse Streak

When you go 1-10 like Syracuse did last season, you would think that taking a team lightly would be the furthest thing from their minds. Apparently Cuse was a bit full of themselves after two straight wins over Iowa and Illinois and came up flat against the Miami Red Hawks. The Hawks surprised Cuse 27-21 where their QB Kokal shredded the Syracuse secondary for 300 yards passing.

The two teams traded touchdowns in the first quarter which saw Cuse cornerback Tanard Jackson haul in his first career receiving TD. QB Andrew Robinson would then hit WR Lobdell with a 17 yard TD pass and Cuse was up 14-7, looking poised to take over the game. Miami (OH) and Kokal would have none of that though. Kokal came right back and hit WR Robinson with a 80 yard TD pass to tie the game up at 14 all. The red birds would go on to score the next 13 points of the game to take a 27-14 lead late in to the fourth quarter. Robinson would find Lobdell again on a 42 yard TD strike with 2:32 left in the game. The Hawks would recover the ensuing onside kick and proceeded to run out the clock.
