Yale Pulls One Out In the End!

GAME NOTES:

I guess we let all that praise following last weeks game to go to our heads because we came out flat against Northeastern (0-2). Perhaps we were looking ahead to our match up with the number 5 ranked team in the land, East Carolina (3-0).

Our defense was still without our outstanding CB, Willie Garcia for this game, who is currently sitting out a 3 game suspension for academic reasons. The defense came out rusty yet again letting the Huskies to score on their first possession with a 57 yard pass. But once again after that quick score our defense was able to settle down and hold the Huskies to just two more field goals and record ourselves 5 sacks. Nate Wilson made a crucial interception late in the fourth when Northeastern was driving down the field to score. Unfortunately, our quaterback, Kellen Tucker gave the ball back a couple of plays later with his own interception, but luckily enough for us that the Huskies didn't have enough time left to score.

Offensively we looked like a totally different team from last week. We struggled throughout the game with our running game and we couldn't get our passing game in rhythm. Campbell, who is the Nations leading rusher couldn't get anything going rushing for just 65 yards. We had a little scare late in the fourth on our last scoring drive when Campbell went down with an injury. Luckily it was nothing serious and was able to return later.

GAME BALLS:

We had no standout performances on offense, but we'll give the offensive game ball to halfback Tony Campbell. Although he only rushed for 65 yards he did come back after getting hurt and score the last touchdown to help put the game just out of reach.

Defensively it's hard to decide who to give the game ball to because our defense played pretty solid. We'll give one ball to our Middle Linebacker Jack Parham who was a beast running all over the field recording 6 tackles and forcing a fumble for his second straight game. We'll also give a game ball to Rodney Bush, who only had 2 tackles but they were both sacks and he also got an interception early in the game.

OVERALL:

Overall we were lucky to come out of this game with a win as our offense came out and struggled in the game. Fortunately for us our defense was able to regroup for the third straight game and keep us in the game. That's been three straight games that our defense has came out and given up a big pass play for a touchdown on the opponents opening drive. We need to work on our pass defense and figure out what we're doing wrong.
