The Bulldogs Start Off Conference Play With a Bang!

GAME NOTES:

We came out firing on all cylinders for our first conference game even the defense stepped it up a bit and held Penn to just a FG on their first possession. Our starting CB Willie Garcia was suspended for the second time this year this time for 6 games for violating team rules. We thought our defense would be hampered a little by his absence but the back CB Mike Townes came in and played great for us, has he has all year playing in the place of Garcia. The defense played decent holding the Quakers to only 54 yards rushing on 16 carries but unfortunately we gave up 212 yard and 2 TD through the air including a pass for 78 yards.

The offense really showed up to play. Our offensive line did a fantastic job up front creating huge holes for our running backs. HB Tony Campbell ran for 240 yards on just 10 carries and two of those carries were for over 70 yards! Overall we ran for a total of 387 yards behind that offensive line who also did a fine job protecting the Quarterback, as they didn't give up a sack all game. Since our running game was doing such a good job we didn't feel like passing the ball much. QB Kellen Tucker dropped back just 5 times during the came and completed 4 of those throws for 132 yards and a touchdown. His only incompletion was when he had to throw the ball away to avoid being sacked.

GAME BALLS:

Our offensive line gets the game ball for this game for performing near perfectly today giving up no sacks and helping our running backs rush for 387 yards and 7 TD's.

CB Mike Townes gets a game ball for defense for coming in for the suspended starter and making 5 tackles with 1 for a loss and 2 crucial Pass Deflections.

OVERALL:

Overall this was an excellent way to start off our conference schedule and should help us keep the confidence that we're going to need for the next several weeks. If our offensive line can keep blocking like they did and if HB Tony Campbell can keep running the ball like he has then we should really be a force to be reckon with for the rest of the year. Our rushing defense is playing great this year but he still need to fix some things up on our passing defense because we are giving up to many yards passing.
