Tide Fights off Pesky Bruins to Claim Undefeated Decade

#2 UCLA has an A- offense, an A defense, and is A overall. They are #2 in pts/gm, #4 in total offense, and #19 in total defense. #1 Alabama is A+ across the board. We are #1 in everything except pass offense (77th). The last time we played UCLA was for the National Championship at the end of the 2019 season which was exactly 20 years ago. Corso and Herbstreit picked the Bruins and we went on to destroy them 73-7. The Bruins are without their leading rusher who is out for the season with an injury. I wonder how this one will turn out.

HB Jonas Barnes breaks into the endzone from 6 yards out, 7-0 Bama. QB Jesse Russ, in his final game for the Tide, hits HB Barnes out of the backfield and he outraces the Bruin defenders for a 44 yard TD pass, 14-0. Things are rolling along quite well so far.

K Tim Ford hits a 49 yard FG with :50 to go in the half and we look to go into halftime with a 17 point lead. The Bruins race down the field and UCLA QB Nelson finds WR Polite on a 31 yard TD pass, 17-7.

We get the second half kickoff and start heading down the field, but we are stripped of the football yet again and the Bruins recover. It only takes them one play for QB Nelson to find WR Satele on a 64 yard TD strike, 17-14. What is going on here? The Tide march down the field again and QB Russ digs his way into the endzone on a QB sneak, 24-14. QB Russ then finds FB Titus Brewer on a 5 yard TD pass, 31-14. QB Russ proceeds to hit his TE, TE Sam Smith on a 5 yard TD pass, 38-14.

QB Russ hits WR Eddie Simmons on a short out route and he takes it 52 yards for the score, 45-14.

UCLA played very tough in this game, especially their run defense. We found running tough going all game until we finally wore them down in the second half. We knocked their QB out of the game early on and their backup lead them to all their scores. I thought he played pretty well. Regardless, this gives us an undefeated decade during the 2030s. That's the first time I've ever done that on any version of the game.
