BAYLOR WEARS DOWN 'DAWGS
When preparring for this game, Coach Juggs came to the conclusion that Baylor only had 1 way they could win this one. Control the clock, keep Georgia's offense off the field and methodically wear down their defense. That was the only counter to the most talented team on paper Baylor would face all year, including not 1 but 2 impact star HBs. And it worked to perfection.
Baylor kept everything short & moved the chains all day long while tiring out the Georgia defense. Dominating time of possession to the tune of 3 to 1 and running 66 plays to only 30 for UGA. Baylor just worde them down. The key was freshman sensation QB Guy Wright, who connected on an unheard of 26 of 28 passes. Guy didn't throw a pass over 20 yards in the air all day, but instead took was the Bulldogs gave him, checking it down and moving the ball to the tune of 26 first downs. "It has been an amazing first season for me both personally and as a team. We won a bowl game over one of the best teams in the country. I found out I was named to the Freshman All-American squad. But me and the boys are hungry. We're like Bears at a picnic. You better watch out, we're coming back for seconds next year," said Wright before going to celebrate with his teammates.
"A fantastic growing up season for the kids with a great exclamation point at the end" was how Coach Juggs described it seconds before the ice cold gatorate shower. And things should only get better for the baby Bears. As one of the youngest teams in the nation, the team from Waco is definitely on the rise.
