BIG PLAY BAYLOR CRUISES

It was close early on, but in the end Baylor won big in their opening game. The thing that propelled the Bears was the big plays & scores. 5 of their 7 TD's were from 40 yards or longer. The reason for these explosion scores is simple...SPEED!
While Baylor might not be as talented on paper as last year & with all the 1st time & underclassmen starters, they are certainly less experienced. But the 1 thing this team has over last year's is much more team speed. From Guy Wright at QB, who had a huge 1st college game, being able to escape the pocket...to Brandon Whitaker at HB who can break long ones with his speed...to a quartet of fast receivers & 2 very agile TE's...Baylor's offense is built for the explosion plays. The defense is also much quicker. Freshman LB's Davis & Burton give our run defense the speed to clog hols and chase down RBs. Our secondary is also a bit quicker and much more physical which should limit the big plays.
Obviously Utah St is no where near the caliber of team Baylor will face in the Big 12, but on a whole, I like the makeup of the team alot and think we'll be able to compete much more this year as compared to last year's constant blowouts.
