ALMOST A TEXAS TWO-STEP

A few weeks back, we pulled off a major upset, knocking off our #1 rival, Texas A&M. Today, we nearly did it again with our 2nd rival Texas. But in the end, the Longhorns' talent proved to be too much and Baylor came up just short.
We owned the first half, taking a 14-0 lead into the break. We did it mostly with defense, playing our best ball of the year. Texas was held to under 50 yards of offense and we forced a turnover turning it into a pick 6. But they came out guns blazing in the 2nd half. Their defense played at a new speed, forcing 4 fumbles (only 1 recovered) and picking off a Wright pass. Their offense finally came alive with Snead passing & the duo of Charles & Taylor on the ground. Texas ran off 24 straight points as momentum built their way. We scored a TD as time expired to cut the game to a 3 pt loss and make it look closer. But even in defeat, Coach Juggs was very happy with his young team. "These kids fought their asses off today. Let's face it, we're not at their level yet & what do we have, like a dozen freshman starters? But they fought & gave 110% and almost pulled off a 2nd huge upset. While I'm a little disappointed we couldn't get the W, I am still very proud of the kids and their performance today."
With 2 of Baylor's top recruits in attendance, they got to see a team on the rise in the Bears. Coach Juggs was hopeful that they would want to be part of the up and coming program and see themselves as being able to help Baylor take the next step in their improvement.
