Spartans Treat Recruits to a 32-7 Win
All recruits from the 2009 recruiting class were in attendance as the Michigan State Spartans beat the Indiana Hoosiers 32-7 today, without the help of QB Connor Dixon.
Dixon was knocked out for two weeks after his first pass of the game. Backup QB Nick Foles came in, and went 16 of 22 for 179 yards and a score.
"Nick did alright out there. He has a cannon arm, and we just need to get his accuracy up a little bit. He gets a little nervous and can make some off balance throws. We'll get him settled in," stated Dr. P.
Foles had the help of HB A.J. Jimmerson, who ran 31 times for 147 yards and two scores. WR T.J. Williams caught Foles' touchdown pass, and it was his 5th of the season.
The Spartans caught a break right before the half, when the Hoosiers completed a pass on the left side of the field with no time remaining to WR Andrew Means. Means caught the ball at the 40, spun out of a tackle and then darted for the endzone trying to make it a 17-14 game at the half. He was chased by four Spartans, and he finally got tripped up for a 53 yard completion, one yard short of the endzone.
The Hoosiers played the game with third string QB Mitchell Evans, who threw three picks as All-American QB Kellen Lewis and backup Teddy Schell sat on the sideline with an injury.
