Big Bowl Loss

Tennessee was very excited to be in Houston, Texas for a bowl game. However, Iowa State was frustrated that they got the Houston Bowl invite.

Tennessee was 6-5 coming in and Iowa State was 6-5 coming into the game. Who knew Iowa State would look like a 10-2 team today. Iowa State started out the game with a 31-0 halftime lead. Tennessee had struggled all day long on the ground and had 0 yards of total offense at halftime.

However, the Vols did not give up and fought hard to the very end of the game. Justin Smith had a whopping 4 yards at halftime but managed to get over 100 yards thanks to a 77 yard touchdown run at the end of the game to try to attempt a comeback.

"Well perhaps the boys had been out partying too much. I take responsibility for this loss and don't plan on losing many more bowl games again. Time to go recruiting and build the pride and prestige back into Tennessee. I think the fans are pleased with a 6-6 year playing an A+ schedule. We're not as talented as the top SEC foes, but we are getting close." Said a stoic Coach Batten.
