BAYLOR HANGS ON TO GO TO 8-1
This was a see-saw type of game. We dominated the 1st half, with Texas Tech only being able to score thanks to a Punt Return TD. Taking a 21-7 lead into the break and with a substantial amount of momentum, we figured we would coast the rest of the way. But the Red Raiders, much like last year's matchup, came roaring back and tied us 24-24 early in the 4th. We were able to fend them off though and rally back with 2 late TDs to win the game.
Freshman RB Ronnie "Farooq" Simmons had the best day of his career so far, setting career marks with 3 scors & 189 yards on the ground while adding another 25 receiving. Guy Wright was sacked 6 times, detracting from our rush totals, but the trio of Simmons, Smith & Johnson combined to rush for 287 yds, pounding a weak Texas Tech front 7.
At 8-1 and with 3 games left, all against teams from Oklahoma, if we can split our 2 conference games and then beat Tulsa, we have a great shot at a major January Bowl bert.
