Tigers Drop Third Staright Game

Miami, FL - Darrian Mallary carried the ball 28 times for 145 yards and a touchdown to lead the FIU Panthers over the visiting Dillon Tech Panthers in a Sun Belt Conference match up at FIU Stadium.

The Tigers were led by quarterback Matt Saracen who went 18 of 36 for 262 yards and a touchdown.

The Tigers got on the board first with a 6 yard touchdown run by fullback Tim Riggins who is filling at tailback for the injured Brian Williams.

On the Tigers next possession, Matt Saracen found receiver Jared Howell streaking over the middle for a 20 yard touchdown reception.

Both teams each traded scores and the Tigers took a 21-7 lead into the break.

In the second half, things began to fall apart for the Tigers. Greg Ellingson returned the kickoff 98 yards for FIU. After that, quarterback Wayne Younger went to work on the Dillon Tech defense and helped his team rack up 33 second half points.

The Tigers struggles continued as they were unable to get any sort of ground game going without Smash Williams who was out for the second straight game. The Tigers will be looking forward to his return in the next few weeks.
