2010 Week 9

Monroe, LA - The Dillon Tech Tigers continued their winning ways in Sun Belt action as they hosted the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks. Smash Williams racked up 319 yards of total offense and 4 touchdowns as the Tigers extended their winning streak to five games.

The Tigers opened the scoring early in the first quarter with a 12 yard touchdown run by Smash Williams. On the Tiger's next possession, Matt Saracen found slot receiver Dan Edmonds down the middle of the field on a post route for a 61 yard touchdown strike to put the Tigers ahead 14-0. A few moments later after a ULM field goal, Travis Lowery returned a kickoff 85 yards for another score to put the Tigers up 21-3 after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Smash Williams caught a short pass from Saracen and broke a few tackles on his way to a 52 yard touchdown reception. The Warhawks were able to respond with a touchdown of their own when quarterback T.Revell connected with L.Ambrose. The Tigers responded on the ensuing possession when Smash Williams took an option pitch from Matt Saracen and went untouched for an 83 yard touchdown run to put the Tigers up 35-10 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Smash Williams scored his fourth touchdown of the day on a 64 yard reception from Matt Saracen. The Warhawks responded with 3 touchdowns of their own in the second half but it was not enough as the Tigers went on to a 45-31 victory.

After the game, team doctors stated that Wide Receiver Jared Howell will be out for the next two weeks after he suffered a strained shoulder in the first quarter.
