Tigers Fall Short Against Aggies

College Station, TX - Dillon Tech was not quite able to pull off the upset over Texas A&M. While the Tigers led for most of the game, it was the Aggies who pulled ahead late in the fourth quarter and didn't allow the Tigers to generate any kind of offense late in the game. Quarterback Matt Saracen did all he possibly could to try and lead the Tigers to victory but dropped passes by his receivers proved to be the difference in this one. The Tigers moved the ball well during the first half and were spreading the ball around making it difficult for the Aggies to stop them. Runningback Brian Williams left the game in the second quarter and that is when things turned ugly for the Dillon Tech offense. With Williams out, the Tigers were not able to keep their running game going and the Aggies began putting more pressure on quarterback Matt Saracen who was forced to get rid of the ball early.

Dillon Tech opened the scoring on its first possession when they drove he ball down the field and scored on a 1 yard run by Smash Williams. The Tigers got out to a 14-3 lead before the Aggies finally got into the endzone just before halftime. In the second half, the Tigers were only able to come up with a field goal while the Aggies were able to pull ahead in the fourth quarter on a 6 yard touchdown run by quarterback Jarrod Johnson.

"We just didn't make the plays when we needed to late in the game," said Mike Leach after the game. "In the second half we did a poor job of converting on third downs and it ended up costing us. Our defense played solid, especially in the redzone but our offense was simply unable to capitalize on our chances late in the game."
