Spartans Clip Falcons Wings 35-10

Another stellar performance from QB Brian Hoyer has Spartan fans feeling excited, as Michigan State downed Bowling Green 35-10 this afternoon.

Hoyer completed 20 of 23 passes for 215 yards and four touchdowns, and for the second straight game did not throw an interception.

Hoyer threw touchdowns to four different recievers, with WR Devin Thomas being his main target. Thomas caught six passes for 89 yards with a score. TE Kellen Davis caught his third touchdown pass, while TE Charlie Gantt and FB Jeff McPherson caught their first touchdowns of the year.

On the year, Hoyer is an amazing 39 of 46 (84%), for 517 yards, 7 touchdowns, and zero interceptions. His QB rating of 229.4 is the highest for QB's with over 20 attempts. Though the competition hasn't been that great, but the efficiency is still impressive.

HB Javon Ringer had a very solid game, rushing for 100 yards on 16 carries, including an impressive 11 yard run where he took a HB dive play, busted it outside and beat the defender to the corner of the endzone. WR Terry Love also threw a great block on the play.

The only negative to the offense was the fact that Hoyer was sacked eight times, but it is something Dr. P is living with:

"I teach my QB's to take the sack if no one is open. There's no sense in randomly hitting a button and having the pass get picked off. You either make smart throws or you don't make the throw."

Defensively, it seems as though the Spartans are playing with a "team" philosophy. Six different defenders recorded a team high five tackles. SS Nehemiah Warrick had his second straight game with the team's only interception, and DT Ogemdi Nwagbuo recorded the team's first and only sack of the season. The lack of pressure is a little alarming, as one sack in two games against below average competition isn't something to be happy about.
