Rain Dance: Spartans Beat Panthers 24-10

It was a rainy, sloppy day in East Lansing, but at the end the sun was out for the Spartans and their fans, as the squad improved to 3-0 with a 24-10 victory over the (1-1) Pittsburgh Panthers.

Though focus has been entirely on the offense this season, the Spartans defense has been flying under the radar, allowing just 26 points in three games. The Spartans defense broke through today with four sacks, while forcing two turnovers.

FS Otis Wiley and CB Ross Weaver both recorded 10 tackles, while four players recorded sacks, including freshman DT Antonio Jeremiah. CB Travis Key recorded both turnovers, with an interception and a fumble recovery.

On offense, QB Brian Hoyer threw his first three interceptions of the year, despite a solid 21-28 performance with 284 yards and a touchdown to TE Kellen Davis. It was Davis' fourth score of the year.

HB Javon Ringer had two touchdowns, including a great 31 yard scamper right through the middle of the defense, going untouched for the score.
