Spartans Survive Late Hoosier Push: Win 41-30

The Michigan State Spartans (4-2) eclipsed their 2006 win total with a 41-30 win over the Indiana Hoosiers (1-5), putting them at 5-2 on the year and 2-1 in Big Ten play.

Lead by the "Nation's Most Accurate Man", QB Brian Hoyer, the Spartans had an offensive explosion that lead to 409 yards total offense. Hoyer, who was tied for the NCAA lead with a 71% completion rate, actually improved his completion percentage with an 18 for 22 game, throwing for 262 yards and three scores.

The Spartans were able to break the game open on back to back offensive plays late in the second. First, Hoyer hit WR T.J. Williams on a simple 15 yard out, which Williams exploded down the sideline into a 40 yard score 1:02 remaining in the first half.

On the next drive, WR Terry Love recieved a simple WR screen, which he turned in to 74 yard touchdown pass, the longest of the season. The Spartans would lead 31-14 going into the half.

HB Javon Ringer rushed for a season high 134 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries. It was Ringer's first 100 yard game since the Bowling Green battle.

Defensively, SS Nehemiah Warrick helped the Spartans pick off Indiana's QB Lewis five times, as Warrick recorded three. SS Tom Dance and FS Otis Wiley recorded the other two picks.

The Hoosiers had a great game from HB Thigpen, who rushed for 140 yards and two scores on just 22 carries. QB Lewis also ran for 61 yards, giving the Hoosiers 196 total yards on the ground.
