We Don't Need No Stinkin' Run!

For the second straight season the Michigan State Spartans defense bottled up the Ohio State Buckeyes offense, winning 17-6 in a snowy game in Columbus.

Both Spartan touchdowns were thrown through the air, as QB Brian Hoyer had his best performance of the year. In the first drive alone, he threw 3 for 3 with over 50 yards passing, resulting in a 26 yard screen pass to WR T.J. Williams that turned into a touchdown.

No team scored again until the third, as Michigan State absolutely shut down HB Chris Wells, while the Buckeyes contained HB Javon Ringer.

In the third, HB Javon Ringer and HB A.J. Jimmerson left on back to back plays with injuries, which left Hoyer with nothing to do but pass. He marched the team down the field and hit FB Jeff McPherson on a 14 yard play action flat, making it 14-0 Michigan State.

The Buckeyes came right back and scored a touchdown on a 17 yard pass to WR Devon Lyons, but the extra point proved to be difficult in the snow, as K Aaron Pettrey hit the right upright. He also missed a field goal earlier in the game.

The Buckeyes tried to come back down 14-6 in the 4th, but a fumble in their own territory would lead to MSU's game clinching field goal.

With the win, the Spartans improve to 7-2 (4-2) and are set to host Purdue.
