Spare Tire
As Impact HB Javon Ringer eclipsed 1000 yards on the season, it was like a car reaching 100,000 miles. Shortly after, Ringer would break his collarbone, leaving his collegiate career over.
"I feel horrible for Javon. He did so much for us this season to get us where we are, and I wish he could play in that Bowl Game coming up," stated Dr. P.
Luckily for the Spartans, however, they had a spare tire in the trunk. Impact HB A.J. Jimmerson ran 28 times for 131 yards and a score in the Spartans 34-13 beating of Purdue.
A pair of backups in Jimmerson and QB Connor Dixon had to lead the offense. Dixon showed he'll have great use in the option run, but he'll need to work on his passing if he wants to be the starter in 2009. He finished just 7 of 14 with one touchdown and two interceptions.
On defense, CB Kendell Davis-Clark recorded his sixth interception right before the half, returning it 39 yards for the team's first defensive touchdown in '08.
