Georgia Loses the Ball and the Game

The Michigan State Spartans were able to force four fumbles and six total turnovers in a rainy game in the Outback Bowl, beating the #18 Georgia Bulldogs 27-6.

The win was the second straight bowl game win for the Spartans, and gave them an impressive 10-3 season record.

A 10 yard field goal from K Brett Swenson made it 10-0 Spartans with just under a minute to play, and on the following kickoff, the Spartans were able to force a fumble on the return. CB Kendell David-Clark recovered the fumble and rumbled 39 yards for the score, making it 17-0 Spartans going into the half.

QB Brian Hoyer made his return from injury, and in the third hit his TE Charlie Gantt on a 20 yard out pattern, giving the Spartans a 24-0 lead, all but sealing the game.

HB A.J. Jimmerson followed up his 50 carry, 308 yard performance with 35 carries for 161 yards and a score. He finished the year just shy of 1000 yards (944) and had 10 touchdowns, despite getting just 68 carries in the first 9 games of the season.

MLB Andrew Hawken recorded 11 tackles, giving him an impressive 89 on the year.
