Missed Opportunities
10 sacks and 2/4 on Field Goals; the 2 demises of the Northwestern Wildcats against the University of Illinois Fighting Illini in their final game of the 2007 football season.
What had been a rollercoaster season for Coach Andrew Taylor's first finally came to a close Saturday with a 23-20 defeat against the rival Illini.
"I thought we were going to come back in the end. Andrew (Brewer) had the best game of the season, and what a time to have it. After losing our 2nd defensive starter, we needed our offense to step it up, and they did. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough and we finished below .500. But now the REAL season starts," said Coach Taylor.
Andrew Brewer, who threw for 297 yards on 23 of 36, and was named player of the game, couldn't bring his team back from a 17 point deficit half-way through the third quarter.
"I really wanted to win this one for our seniors. Guys like Brandon Roberson, Reggie McPhereson, Adam Kadela, Kim Thompson, man, I could go on forever. Guys like them deserve to go out on a high note. I'm just disappointed that their last ever collegiate football game will go down as a loss.
