Brewer, Roberson Lead 'Cats to First Big Ten Victory
Coach Taylor finally got his first Big Ten victory under his belt. Granted, it was against the last place Golden Gophers of Minnesota, but it's a start.
"I just feel good to get that first win off of my back. Brewer played well enough in his first start, and Roberson played outstanding. If we had played like this in our previous games, we would have at least 1 more victory."
Coach Taylor may have a point. Andrew Brewer only threw 3 interceptions, 2 of which weren't his fault, but his receiver's breaking off of their routes too early and being in no position to catch or knock down the ball.
"While we did commit some turnovers today, it was a vast improvement over our recent play. Brewer's still a Sophomore, so as he gets more and more playing time, he'll improve."
The Wildcats started out hot, much like the end of their Michigan St. game after it was already in the bag for the Spartans. Roberson and Brewer each had TD runs in the first. Mike Kafka, who subbed in for a temporarily injured Brewer, added his own TD in the second. After Roberson would punch in his 2nd TD of the day, Brewer would throw his first TD pass of the season to Tonjua Jones.
Brandon Roberson, who had 154 yards on 25 carries and 2 TD's, was named player of the game.
