Bacher's 5 INT's Doom Wildcats

After last year's inconsistent QB play last year from Northwestern's Quarterback by Committee club, Coach Taylor had finally thought that he found a solid starting QB in CJ Bacher.

He may have to rethink that.

Bacher's 5 interception day against Duke almost forced Taylor to sub Andrew Brewer, a member of the 2006 QB by Committee.

Bacher did have one bright spot on the day, throwing a laser to Kim Thompson half-way through the second quarter before his INT barrage started to kick in. Bacher only completed 9 of his 22 passes, unless you count the 5 completions to the wrong colored jerseys, where his completion percentage looks a lot better.

The game itself was back and forth, as Northwestern started the scoring with a 23 yard field goal by Stefan Demos, which would be quickly answered by a 66 yard TD run by Re'quan Boyette.

Bacher would then fire a 23 yard pass to Kim Thompson, giving the Wildcats the lead again. However, Duke would answer with 10 points of thier own in the final minute as 1 of Bacher's 5 interceptions would set up a Duke Field Goal as time expired.

Following a 75 yard TD run by Tyrell Sutton in the 3rd quarter, the game was tied at 17 all. However, Bacher would throw interceptions on 3 consecutive drive and 4 out of 5, allowing for the Blue Devils to put up 10 straight points in the fourth quarter, icing the game as they scored a Touchdown with under 90 seconds remaining.
