Wildcats Upset Boilermakers Despite Losing Battle

After last week's display of the inexperience of the Northwestern Football team, you would expect the team to fall into an even deeper tailspin after letting a 20-0 lead slip away from them.

Think again.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 14-3 halftime lead, despite losing their Senior Cornerback, Deante Battle for the remainder of the season with a Hip Fracture, suffered early in the second quarter.

The Wildcats also lost Wide Receiver Kim Thompson early in the third quarter with Bruised Ribs, but he was only out for the game. Thompson did leave a mark on the game before he left, catching a 40 yard TD pass from Andrew Brewer.

Brewer, who was supposed to be a better version of CJ Bacher, again threw more interceptions than touchdowns, 2-1.

"We need to teach him to throw the ball away when there's nothing available. When he's forced out of the pocket, he usually scrambles to buy him time, not gain a few yards. He's been getting better since he's started, but against an elite team, his mistakes will be highlighted even more. Luckily, our defense stood strong, only allowing 3 points to the potent Boilermaker offense, lead by Curtis Painter," said Coach Taylor after the game.

Ben Rothrauff, who had 5 tackles, 1 interception, and 1 forced fumble, was named player of the game.
